Search The Breadfruit Varieties Database

The database provides information on 130 varieties conserved in the National Tropical Botanical Garden’s living collections. Users can explore and compare varieties by origin, tree and fruit characteristics, seasonality, and other documented traits.

The database represents a subset of breadfruit diversity found across the Pacific and other tropical regions and is not a comprehensive record of all known varieties. It provides a resource for researchers, farmers, educators, home gardeners, and cultural practitioners, and others interested in breadfruit diversity and conservation.

The database draws on more than 40 years of breadfruit collection, documentation, and research led by Dr. Diane Ragone, with photography by Jim Wiseman.
