Taking the Garden on the Road to the Philly Flower Show
Special Announcement, 02/14/2012
National Tropical Botanical Garden is bringing its message of plant conservation, research, and education to the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show from March 4-11. This year's theme, 'Hawai`i - Islands of Aloha', presents the ideal opportunity for the Garden to reach out to the more than 250,000 attendees anticipated to attend.
The Garden will be directly interacting with people who have a passion for plants, but may not know about NTBG. These are individuals who may wish to support NTBG’s mission, visit our garden sites in Florida and Hawai`i, or "take the Garden home" by purchasing items. During the week of the show, Mike DeMotta, NTBG’s Assistant Director for Living Collections and Horticulture, will give a talk on ‘Saving Plants, Saving People’; informational materials will be distributed at the Garden’s exhibit; and products for sale will include Hawaiiana crafts handmade by our volunteers, books, videos, and notecards featuring stunning photographs of rare Hawaiian species. Attendees will also be able to register for drawings and incentives.
The Philadelphia International Flower Show, which began in 1829, has grown to be the world's largest indoor flower show. The show includes 10 acres of exhibition space and features more than 150 vendors from around the country as well as 2,000+ botanical-floral exhibitions and displays.
