Esteemed Australian Naturalist Ian Hutton will speak at a public lecture sponsored by the National Tropical Botanical Garden and Kaua`i Community College.
Hutton has spent more than 30 years studying the ecology of Lord Howe Island and will share the richness of its flora and fauna. Similarities between Lord Howe Island and the Hawaiian Islands will become evident during Hutton’s talk.

Haku Lei Making during October `Ohana Day

Free haku lei making demonstration

(Gateway to McBryde Garden and Allerton Garden in the Lāwa`i Valley)
4425 Lāwa`i Road (across from Spouting Horn)
Po`ipū
Watch local artist Elvrine Chow create 'wili-style' haku (lei po`o) with fresh flowers and foliage. These lei are given to heal and honor, and in celebration of happy occasions.
`Ohana Day Events are held every third Sunday of the month to coincide with one of the weekly `Ohana Day tour offerings.
