Garden’s Popular Holiday Craft Fair is Dec. 2
Press Release, 11/23/2012
NTBG’s 9th Annual Christmas in the Garden

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Po‘ipū, Kaua‘i (November 20, 2012) — Get off to an early start for the gift-giving season at the National Tropical Botanical Garden’s Christmas in the Garden holiday craft fair on Sunday, December 2 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. More popular with each passing year, this pre-holiday free family event offers residents and visitors the opportunity to shop for a wide range of interesting and affordable gifts on the sprawling landscaped grounds of NTBG’s Southshore Visitors Center in Po‘ipū, across from Spouting Horn. No craft fair on island is set in such a beautiful site.

This year’s Christmas in the Garden will feature original works by island artists and crafters and Kaua‘i Made Products including Hawaiian Organic Noni, Salty Wahine Gourmet Salts, Aunty Lilikoi Jellies and Mustards, crafts by Mailelani’s Handmade Bags, jewelry by Ken Johnson, and others. Also for sale will be festively decorated miniature Norfolk pine trees and poinsettias from Growing Green Nursery. As you shop for holiday gifts for family and friends, look out for handmade kapa (clothbark) and locally carved wood products.

Children will enjoy ‘Adopt a Christmas Critter’, sponsored by the Kaua‘i Humane Society, as well as keiki crafts and face painting as parents take advantage of specials in the Garden’s gift shop. Shop, browse, and “graze” at your leisure as you listen to live musical performances by Paul Togioka on guitar (10 a.m.-11 a.m.), Anela Lauren on harp (11 a.m.-Noon), and Nick Castilo playing contemporary Hawaiian music on his ‘ukulele (1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.) As a grand finale, Kalāheo School keiki will charm the audience with a musical performance from 2:45 p.m.-3:15 p.m.

Stroll the colorful grounds of NTBG’s Southshore Visitors Center, enjoy the fascinating plantings and fantastic ocean views, and stop to treat yourself to baked sale goodies, pies by The Right Slice, and local ‘ono grinds from popular food vendors. The Garden also asks that everyone bring at least one non-perishable or canned food item as a donation for the Hawai‘i Food Bank.
